Hydrogel is a three-dimensional network of hydrophilic polymers widely used in the biomedical field, one which tissue sealant. The material that can be manufacture hydrogels chitosan. ability chitosan formation hydrogel still limited by its swelling and adhesive properties, so it requires other materials such as crosslinkers, kappa-carrageenan stabilize increase viscosity hydrogel. addition Irgacure® 2959 photo-initiator to produce free radicals bind active group polymer. This study aims determine effect adding based on chitosan-kappa-carrageenan solution formulated colon adhesive. treatments given were much 0%, 1%, 2%, 3%, 4%. characteristics tested qualitatively (simulation adhesion test), degree swelling, resistance water, crystallinity, inhibit bacterial growth. did not show significantly different results from control indicating cannot crosslinking between kappa-carrageenan. predicted due presence steric hindrance kappa-carrageenan, causing very molecular size difference Further, necessary optimize ratio get balance supports occurrence cross-linking.
